Friends First

I like to wake up in the late afternoon skip the morning except for the late night stumbling, wake up and play guitar, put the record player on and sing along. All the time spent drunk in vans broke and laughing helps the days go on and on he said. I like the way my friends dont take life so seriously. Its cigarettes and whiskey til were losing teeth. We're stumbling.

Don't Talk To Me About Morrissey

Empty pockets and bottle in hand, these streets makes me feel like an unwanted citizen and some cowboy from out west wants us to be american. It goes on and on like religious myth like the bullshit meant to keep us nationalist. My eyes are red from reading the headlines and every conversation that sounds the same. I'm seeing red from taking the red eye through every town that could have been a home. The streets are lined with assholes it's a hipster parade. They can take the sound but the words won't mean anything. They can hang around but it won't mean anything to me. It goes on and on like religious myth like the bullshit meant to keep us nationalists. My eyes are red from reading the headlines and every conversation that sounds the same. I'm seeing red from taking the red eye through every town that could have been a home. It's all going to be the same until we build something in its place.

Do You Believe In Class War?

Are you living for a dying wage pouring blood and sweat just to see the next day? Fuck off with the maybe we don't work hard enough maybe a dead end job has got to be done. You said it could be worse like that's some bottom line. I think you're anesthetized by the dollar sign. Are you living for a dying wage pouring blood and sweat just to see the next day? The second hand ticks another foot in the grave as the pencil pushing pencil pushers earn a heros wage. Now the factories in Bangladesh are collapsing at their feet but they blame the unions for their so called greed while most of the world lives in poverty. The buy local movement never caught the irony. Do you believe in class war?

Cops

We're all trying to find that filthy fucking paycheque some finding love in labour some selling sweat a long the way. I don't want to be part of any military forces or the locals writing fines for city hall. You love cops but I don't. You love cops but I don’t wear blue. You love cops and that's everything I fucking hate. We're all dreaming in different directions but I never want to see you rotting in a cubicle grave or returning overseas with a bullet and a casket dying for someone elses greed. You love cops but I don't. You love cops but I don’t wear blue. You love cops and that's everything I fucking hate.

No Gods, No Bastards

Breaking strings, forgetting things, the days get longer. Will we spend our time in bars and basements and wonder where our friends went? We're still singing and there's no god to be concerned that now narcissism is a greater threat than god ever was. Goddamn til there's nothing left but worms let your body rot in dirt with no concern. Every day their flags should fucking burn. Goddammit. We let a few motherfuckers run this world and theyre blinded by religion as their money keeps on pissing in. Goddamn them for selling goddamn we keep on buying your moderate politics, their flag, a nation gone to shit. Goddamn til there's nothing left but worms let your body rot in dirt with no concern. Every day their flags should fucking burn. Goddammit.

Dead Ends & Closed Doors

Having trouble lately trying to make ends meet thinking I'd stay broke if i could move somewhere with heat. General Leslie told me 'sign up son you can be in afghanistan in just six months'. I've got this coffee and I've got this cigarette to keep me warm and I was hoping for a place to get some piece of mind. Can I get a little piece of mind? I was hoping for a place with less guns & opiate wars. I'm tired of doing dishes and I'm tired of serving dicks and I'm damn well tired of listening to your bullshit. I could wear a suit & tie and work in an office it's a damn good life if you don't want promise. I've got this coffee and I've got this cigarette to keep me warm and I was hoping for a place to get some piece of mind. Can I get a little piece of mind? I was hoping for less dead ends and a few more open doors.

Latitude 45

OC Transpo is moving slow all over again and the walk to your apartment seems longer than I ever remember but the tourists are all gone home and the nights are more quiet in my neighborhood. I wish that you'd come home to the town of government workers and bullshit politicians. The weather is getting cold all over again and I'll start to think about leaving this town again but i'll probably spend my last change to call you and say I wish that you'd come home. I wish that you'd come home to the town of government workers and bullshit politicians.

Barely Breathe

When I'm lonely I smoke myself to sleep. When I'm angry I drink til I'm happy. When I'm selfish I drink til my friends leave but right now I can barely breathe. Walk down a road far and out alone. Try to come back home. You got down low if you fall down, will I know? Take the long way home. When I'm lonely I smoke myself to sleep. When I'm angry I drink til I'm happy. When I'm selfish I drink til my friends leave but right now I can barely breathe. You stand up but you know you're goddamn alone. Take the long way home. North there's a love. You got another, a new home. Try to come back home. The long way home.

No Believers

Aint no believers in this goddamn town. We're still here but we try to stay moving. Aint no reason for the way we are . No believers in this goddamn town. My clothes are filthy and falling apart even shoestrings are barely holding on but every stiff drink keeps me holding on and every first chord has me holding on onto every last word you left me choking on.

If You're In A Clown Posse You Don't Need To Tell Us You're Insane

There's a chattering of teeth to the worst degree when every bastard sings about trees. It's wilderness and empty heads sung in perfect harmony but you never really say too much about it. Is it politics or a shred of dignity just another shallow fiction stuck between the teeth. Meanwhile the governments sold off the land to the highest bidder. First Nations get less while the rich get richer and all of those meticulously placed chords are strummed to your trite words but you never really say too much about it.

Fall Down

I've been called a sinner I've been named a saint I've been called white an arab but often misnamed. I've been fired and fucked and fucked over and beaten I've been run down and loved but always jaded. I've got this privilege as a man but I still hate myself. You could hate me more but its harder to tell but I know I'm not alone and I know you're not alone. We're not alone. If you fall down I wanna pick you up. If you slip up I wanna keep you on. If you fall down I want to pick you up.

When The Lights Go On

So I light my cigarette and pick up the pace. My lungs are black, the air is cold, im underdressed. I walk past this building called a symbol of pride by mostly white rich men in a parade of suit and ties. Call it what you will, it's undemocratic at best. Call us idealists for needing more than just the lies. You tell me politics are going out of style but when youre stripped of all cliches what expression will your face wear When the lights go on? This town represents the struggle borders and arms trades while you wear your leather jackets singing about your party days. Jason Kenny as a racist ran immigration. John Baird ran transport - but now controls our foreign affairs? Call it what you will, it's undemocratic at best. Call us extremists for never being on your side. You tell me politics are going out of style. When theres a new trend when the bars are closing what expression will your face wear when the lights go on?
